Holi can be extremely fun until you realise that you have to turn up for office, school or anywhere public, looking like an alien!!

Holi is just a few days away, and very soon colours and paints will be flying all over especially your face. It is very important to ensure that your skin is taken care off, both before and after.

Hence, I decided to jot down some pre and post-holi beauty care tips that I learnt from my mom and grandmoms over the years, so that you can be all carefree this Holi and enjoy to the fullest.

Take some olive oil or coconut oil and apply it on your face in circular motion. This will not only moisturize your skin but also ensure that it does not retain any colour. Apply it on your hair as well in sufficient quantity, as the colours can really dry out your hair and it will also help in washing them off later.

NOTE: The best clothing option for holi is lycra clothing as it doesnt absorb water. It is also favourable to cover up as much as possible so that your skin isnt exposed to the harsh colours. In this regard, apply oil to all the exposed body parts as well.

Our nails are quite important to us and the colours can really stick on to it and cause a lot of trouble in getting them off. Hence, apply two-three layer of dark nail polish. Next, apply some vaseline onto your cuticles. You can also apply some transparent nail colour in the inner tips of your nail and later get them off using a nail polish remover.

Tiding up your hair into a tight braid shall help you a lot in getting the colours off it later. But if you feel like opening it, go for it and have fun. It’s just one day and completely okay!πŸ˜‰

Apply a good lip balm onto your lips before you go out to play. This shall help you in protecting your lips from the harsh colours all throughout the day.

Take some oil and massage it onto your skin until and unless the colour starts to come off. Wipe it out with a soft tissue or a cloth, and hence get rid of colours easily.

This is the most apt remedy for getting rid of all the stubborn colours from your face and body. Take some gram flour(besan), add two tablespoons of curd and some sugar onto it. Mix it well and then apply this pack all over your colour-ridden skin. Massage it gently and then leave it on for about 15 minutes. Wash it off with cold water, and get back your smooth glowing skin.

This remedy is meant for your hair. Break an egg in a bowl, take a banana, cut it up and mash them together. Add a bit of vanilla essence. Apply it on your hair and leave it intact for about 15 minutes, before you wash it. Thats it!! You will get back your smooth shiny hair at an ease.

I hope you liked the post and that these tips help you have an awesome holi this year. Follow these tips in order to retain your beautiful hair and skin even after a probable colour riot.
